On June 21, 2009, Poppies Out played in the streets of Paris pour la fête de la musique, in the village-like Butte aux Cailles area. Poppies Out played along with two bands, alternatively: Boomerang and Gaïa.
No doubt, people were filled with enthusiasm. Several people who did not know Poppies out before came to warmly congratulate the band at the end of this excellent concert.
Poppies Out made their first step into professional recording as they bought themselves a recording session in a professional studio in June 2009. You can listen to this right here. But their first songs are still available below, with a good old "home studio" sound. Frankly, it's still totally worth it, even though the sound quality cannot compete with a professional studio. And technically, the band improved a lot since October 2008, when these songs were recorded. What is going to be, ten years from now!
Less than a week after the Fresnes concert, here come the Poppies Out again, in the French capital city this time!
The concert took place in the basement of a Parisian bar, in a nice vaulted cellar. The place is called Le Chat Noir (the Black Cat).

With no air conditionning and almost 100 people attending the concert, the temperature quickly rose. Spotlights and amplifiers just made it worse, but the audience was very excited about this concert. A number of youg female fans kept screaming and shouting the musicians' names, and even asked for autographs at the end of the concert. A joyful atmosphere. Maybe that was the first glimpse of what is going to happen in the future, when dozens of hysterical fans will be waiting for them!!!

On 14 March 2009, Poppies Out held another good concert in Fresnes. A lot of energy, numerous loyal and delighted fans...
The venue was very nice, although it's not really a concert room. It looked more like some kind of administration building lobby. Yet, the sound was good and the organizers very welcoming.
A very good, flawless concert, Poppies Out at the peak of their talent
The city of Neuilly-Plaisance (Paris suburbs) organized a music festival to find out new music talents. Poppies Out was part of the selected bands.
That evening, three bands were present, each of them playing twice for 30 minutes, alternatively. Poppies Out was highly successful, with a lot of their loyal fans in the room. The organizers themselves were highly seduced and promised they would call them again. To be continued, then...
This festival allowed Poppies Out to make friends with one of the two other bands: Gaïa, a highly dynamic rock band, composed of 4 members.
A very good evening indeed!
Saturday, 14 February 2009, on Valentine's Day, Poppies Out played their first concert of the year 2009 in a venue that is not particularly well suited for rock concerts. It is a billiard room after all...
The concert went fine. Poppies Out stood out and the audience was once more delighted.

Here is a video made right after the concert from 5 July 2008: I asked the audience to express their feelings about the show (beware: it's in French).
The background music is the song "Out of bounds". This was at a time when Poppies Out was still called Bloody Needles...
On Saturday, 20 December 2008, Poppies Out set the venue on fire. A very good performance indeed, their best gig so far.
You weren't there? Too bad... You definitely missed something!!!
The band was particularly good and their enthusiasm was infectious, as the audience clearly enjoyed the show.
There were people dancing and the screaming of the fan ladies reminded me of the Beatles concerts (a nice little band from Liverpool)... crazy!
Videos from this concert are available here! Here are some pictures:

Thanks a lot to Pascal Cossé for his beautiful photographs! (edited by Grebz)
Thursday, 11 December 2008, the ex-Bloody Needles played their first gig under their new name: Poppies Out.
The concert took place at the bar "Le Chat Teigne" in Champs-sur-Marne (Val de Marne, France).
Very nice venue, with a spot dedicated to concerts, a genuine little stage, a good sound system, feedback speakers for the musicians and a mixing console.
Poppies Out played during an hour, they performed 15 of their songs, including 4 new ones (Follow the rabbit, Shut ourselves away, Woman of the circus, Midnight sunset), as well as 2 covers at the end. Bamigou, the drummer, used his new drum set for the first time, as a substitute for his former electronic drums. The sound is now more natural.
As a conclusion, yet another great performance from the band. Congrats, guys!

In December 2008, the band decided to change names: Bloody Needles has become Poppies Out.
The band members remain the same:
Thomas Deshayes - Guitar and vocals
Arthur Deshayes - Vocals and guitar
Yann Cossé - Guitar
Christophe Bouteiller - Bass guitar
Nicolas "Bamigou" Bayor - Drums
It took place on 5 July 2008 at the Planète Billard (Champigny sur Marne, Val de Marne, France), a billiard room with about 20 pool tables and a bar space with armchairs and small tables where bands can perform.

Thanks a lot to Pascal Cossé for his beautiful photographs!!!

First, they were Bloody Needles, first name of the band, then a few months and a lot of thinking later, this name is definitely dropped and replaced with Poppies Out. Definitely ? To be continued...
The band was formed in April 2008 by 5 young talented guys. It is a Rock band.
Although they haven't been around for a long time, they played their first two concerts in suburban Paris in June and July 2008. No time wasted before they threw themselves in the lion's mouth! They rehearse regularly and for long hours, they enjoy what they do, so it's only natural.
Good players and full of energy, we wish them to become known. There's talent, now luck is required. Meeting the right person, at the right place and the right time, find the opportunity for them to become professionals, that sounds like a dream, but that's what we all wish for. They're only looking forward to blossoming, so please, producers, look this way!
Poppies Out:
Thomas Deshayes - Guitar and vocals
Arthur Deshayes - Vocals and (occasionally) guitar
Yann Cossé - Guitar
Christophe Bouteiller - Bass guitar
Nicolas "Bamigou" Bayor - Drums
Thomas is the band's main composer, arrangements are made in common.

Tout juste énorme !!!
Un tremplin s'offre à vous, première scène parisienne, de nouveaux fans à votre actif.
"Shut ourselves away", je pense la meilleure chanson du concert, carrément puissante, elle annonce la couleur d'emblée.
