GREBZ'S SITE - MUSIC

Home Studio You will find here a presentation of gear and software needed to record your songs, free plugins, various advice... everything you need to make Rock at home!

Many free amplifier head simulators for bass or guitar are presented, with audio demos so you will know what to expect of them. Cabinet speaker simulators will complete them, allowing you to recreate fully operational guitar amplifiers (head + speaker) by using one of the numerous downloadable impulses. I also show you how you can easily create your own impulses.

A whole part is dedicated to the complete making of a song in a home studio. The purpose is to record a complete Rock song (guitars, bass, drums and vocals) with a good result: qood sound quality, clear mix. I will describe the way I proceed to record my songs. This is my way, it's not the only way, maybe not the best way, but I'm satisfied with it and I am going to share it with you

Compositions - Grebz I have been composing music as an amateur since 1988. I started playing around with the Commodore Amiga computer, then with a PC, then I bought a guitar but spent years not really making any efforts to learn how to play more than a few chords. It's only in 2005 that I decided to compose more seriously, especially learning how to record myself correctly. Only then could I offer my listeners something more than draft versions of my songs, sounding like they were recorded in the depths of a cave.

I wrote and recorded many songs, usually Pop-Rock songs with singing, guitar, bass and drums. I always write, record and mix everything myself. I never have anyone intervene, probably because I am proud telling that "I did it". And be the only one to take in the reviews, whether they're good or bad. I seek pleasure before anything else, and if this feeling is shared by those who listen to my work, then it's great, if not... too bad for me.

I also write music for amateur theater plays. unlike my usual Rock pieces, I mainly use classical instruments (strings, brass, woods...) and I try to make musics with melodies directly connected to the action on stage. Like a film score, a theater music must support the story and generate the appropriate emotion.

Boomerang Although I love to compose in solo, nothing can replace playing within a band. Since the end of 2007, I have been playing with friends in a band we have named Boomerang. We play our own compositions most of the time, but occasionally make covers of known songs.

There are 4 people in Boomerang:
    Jérôme, drums
    Thomas, bass guitar
Olivier, lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Grebz, solo guitar and occasional vocals

We have participated in a music festival and gave a few gigs, although our personal and professional lives don't allow us to spend as much time making music as we would like. But we are having fun nevertheless, which is the most important!
